Final Changes

Image
This will be the final production blog we make before our grand finale, and technically this is our finishing touches blog. If we remember we've done a film review where I showed some individuals I knew my film so far and they gave their honest opinion and what I could do to change it. Although it received mostly a positive reaction I did get some criticism so I would like to fix some of the issues the audience saw so it wont be a displeasure-able viewing experience for everyone else. The first piece of criticism I got was about the lighting and how It didn't match the environment at all. What I did was adjust all the clips brightness and saturation so all of them would have the same amount of color to it and It doesn't look like it was filmed at different times. I also adjusted the shadows and the colors to fit the eerie vibe that we are aiming for with this film. Another piece of criticism I got was how some clips would unnaturally cut to one another and it had no sort of

Editing Blog Day Two

Image
After the whole fiasco of the last editing day, I went back in to see if I could still fix this because I was not ready to give up on the lost project just yet. After about an hour and a half of doing some research and pulling some strings I actually managed to find a backup before everything was lost. But retrieving this backup would prove to be quite difficult because it was a backup for my entire iPad. This meant I had to back all of my stuff up to before this all happened which was a little frustrating but I did transfer most of the important stuff my laptop and phone before I did so I wouldn't be losing any more very important content for school. After I backed up my iPad I looked to my program to see the project back the way it was finally. It wasn't everything that I had finished but it was at least it was enough to just re do the little things and pretend this mistake had never happened. I am truly so glad I figured out a way to fix this major issue because of how lit

Editing Fiasco

Okay so now were facing a major issue. Honestly I really did not take it into consideration that this may happen but as I was editing my program had suddenly bugged out and I thought this was a simple crash but as I went back in to edit like normal it reset my progress entirely from back to the beginning. Beginning as in when I put in the clips and never cut it up to make it fit our time limit. As if that wasn't bad enough I had also lost a scene we filmed and could have been only in the film itself. To say that I'm overwhelmed and disappointed is an understatement. I worked really hard to get this all together and all of a sudden today was the day to just magically erase all of my progress. I have decided to cancel this filming day and I went back to the drawing board to see what other programs I may use that wont cause an issue like this again and or finding ways to recover the progress I already had. I know this may seem like alot but I'm trying to keep myself containe

Film Review

Image
Now that I had some progress on the editing it was time to start expanding the critique to other people who weren't in my group. First I went to my brother and showed him the film to see how he'd react and feel about what we had so far. He has some experience with film but he isn't professional, he had just done something like this back at his highschool and he was familiar with most of the terms we are currently using as well as some simple techniques. The reaction from him was well received however it was mild and he did have alot of constructive criticism to give me, he first mentioned how the acting was alright but could be improved and how wonky some of the lighting looked in our scenes and how it didn't match up to give it a nice flow. Other than that he said it was okay for a 2 minute film introduction and could be improved with the right editing techniques and patience. After I had asked him about how he felt about the film I decided to go ask my close friend wh

First day of editing

Now that we have the music portion of this project out of the way it's finally time to start the editing process of this film production. After talking with my team members I've decided to take responsibility for the editing while they critique it and see what I am able to add and or improve. Editing for this was going to be alot more difficult because I dont have any music template to follow so the clips can flow along each beat or lyric, it's just up to my own imagination and how I want to put the clips together. First I added all of the scenes we had filmed into the program put them all in order of how the storyboard was made. It actually took me quite a bit of time to do this because I was looking through every scene to see which one actually fit best and didn't have the most fails in it. After that I began planning out how I was going to cut down most of these clips. Because of how long some of the clips were they went way past the limit of the film and I needed to

Choosing a song

Image
Before we get to the editing portion of this project, me and my group had started talking about the music we should implement into our film and what would be easier for us to do in this small amount of time. We all had different suggestions but we did take into consideration the fact that since we dont have that much time to actually get everything finalized and contacting the artists for the copyright would take way too much time, we decided to use a royalty free song to cut down the time we have so were not worried about backups and emails back to us. As we decided on royalty free we began to look on youtube and we found a playlist created by Kevin Macleod and it has tons of free music that we are able to use and implement into our film. We looked through a bunch and we found a song called Apprehension, it has a suspenseful tune to it and it makes for a perfect build up in our film for a specific scene were going to do. We had many other choices to choose from but I believe that we

Finally... a filming day!

Image
So this is our second day of filming and we finally made time for us to all be together in our set. Me and two of my group mates came there a bit early so while we were waiting for our other person to get to the scene we began doing extra bits to implement as scenes for our film. For example we did our little text messaging bit for when the girl asks her friends to come over and help her find the doll. It took us quite a few tries to actually make it work, and we tried to cut it to down quite alot because it was a lengthy recording and I know all of it wont fit into the film. After we did that we began discussing how we would do certain camera angles and we even got a little extra help to help us film and hold the camera. We tried doing it without help but it was quite hard since the camera never gave us the angle we wanted and it just looked really awkward when it came to the outcome. So having the extra help helped us improve the way this is shot. Once our remaining group member ar
