Final Project


This is our final product! I am very happy with the results and I had a really fun experience working in a group, and i’m hoping everyone else enjoys this.

  My Group and I have chosen mystery as out final genre decision. This genre has potential into becoming something very fun and interesting for our film. We acknowledge that it might be a bit common but the genre is probably the best and easiest choice for us to make since It’s a versatile genre meaning we can do a lot of things with it and change it to many ways. It’s also easy to do as it doesn’t require many props or money. It would be really simple, easy and we can add a lot more to it to keep our audience engaged and entertained. This genre can be a standout compared to other genres like comedy and can have the audience at the edge of their seats wanting for more since mystery can make people feel tense and still create a movie with great energy and vibes. Genre Research: Hereditary

 This movie has elements that our group would like to include in our final task such as the tense ambience created by the mysterious entity that disturbs the family. Having a mood that puts the viewer at the edge of their seat while also trying to solve and figure out what's going on is something Hereditary does well and something our group would like to recreate into our film. Another element that inspired our film was the use of subverting the viewers expectations. This movie may make the viewer believe one thing is going on when in reality something entirely different may be happening. The unpredictable nature of Hereditary is a great base for a mystery film as mystery constantly wants the viewer confused and questioning  Some elements that we enjoyed were the non-stop tension as the family would often be arguing and constantly fighting over something they do not understand. Short film research: Hysteric / Thriller-Mystery Genre

  This film in its entirety is about a family, as the two daughters are seen in bed they are risen to curiosity when they hear a mysterious noise come from their home. It all turns out to be their mother who was stricken with madness and these two daughters and left to fight on their own for their own safety and survival from their mother who is out for blood. The most common camera angle seen in this film was a medium angle camera shot which mostly only focuses on the upper half of one of the daughter’s body as we see the actions she takes to uncover the mystery of the sound. Tracking shots were also extremely common as we follow the same daughter getting up and walking towards the noise that was being made as she investigates, when she discovers her mother killing her father the tracking shot goes from the mother back to the daughter.
