The Camera is a short film about a woman finding a mysterious camera. This camera takes pictures then includes a man who is not physically there. While all this is happening, there is no dialogue present and the only thing you can hear is soothing piano music. This music represents the calm tone of the film, while also complimenting the mystical and mysterious theme of the film. Instead of being the usual haunted suspenseful music we usually hear in many mystery films, we instead hear a beautiful score throughout the whole film. The lighting was all natural as most of the film occurred outside, with the inside of the house have windows in every room to continue using natural light. The costume is kept casual, as it is outside clothing. The prop of the camera is very old and big, most likely to symbolize caring for old items. Palm rot is a mysterious film without the usage of any dialogue amongst characters. The camera work in is dynamic and visually striking, with a mix of close-ups and wide shots that capture the mood atmosphere, and shows us the location of the man. The lighting in the film is carefully crafted to create a sense of tension and unease, with shadows and highlights used to great effect. The character in Palm Rot delivered a sense of lostness along with the dynamic lighting and effects to demonstrate the confusion the man felt. The music in the short film fit each scene perfectly. The camera angles and movements in "Palm Rot" are expertly chosen and executed, adding to the film's sense of tension and drama while also remaining mysterious. The lighting in the film creates a sense of mystery and foreboding, with dimly lit scenes and dramatic use of shadows. This film is about a mother who is struggling to accept the fact that she is close to losing custody of her baby. With all of this going on for the mother, a mysterious woman confronts her about something much more horrid and sinister that would come forth and they’d experience quite soon. Camera angles that were most prominent and seen in this film were over the shoulder shots as seen when the mother and the woman are seen speaking to each other, medium and close up shots are also shown when we are only focusing on the mother and the actions that she does. The most common sound that was featured in this film was ambience, at the birthday party you can hear the chattering of the people in the background as well as more slightly noticeable noises like children playing and plates clattering against each other. The ambience is quite noticeable but hear over this is dialogue, while the audience can still hear the background chattering we also get an emphasis of dialogue for the conversatio...

  This film in its entirety is about a family, as the two daughters are seen in bed they are risen to curiosity when they hear a mysterious noise come from their home. It all turns out to be their mother who was stricken with madness and these two daughters and left to fight on their own for their own safety and survival from their mother who is out for blood. The most common camera angle seen in this film was a medium angle camera shot which mostly only focuses on the upper half of one of the daughter’s body as we see the actions she takes to uncover the mystery of the sound. Tracking shots were also extremely common as we follow the same daughter getting up and walking towards the noise that was being made as she investigates, when she discovers her mother killing her father the tracking shot goes from the mother back to the daughter. These tracking shots make it look like it was all shot in one large take which really makes it look as if the audience were following the daughter ...

    One tip for making a short film that I got was to subvert expectations in your film. Subverting expectations can help make the film more unpredictable and unique to the audience. A film that has the same ideas and tropes gets repetitive and stale. This can often make it unenjoyable to watch for people. An example of this is a predictable jumpscare which viewers can anticipate it.     When the audience can anticipate it, it reduces anxiety and fearful emotions from viewers. A better alternative that was stated is to do something you wouldn't normally do, to trick yourself and the audience in the process. Another idea suggested by the video was to stick to your genre and follow it. In this case, it would be mystery for the film genre being used. An example of the mystery genre being followed would be very ominous music and shadowy figures to avoid the viewers from getting a proper description on any characters or surroundings to help build tension and confusion.     One thing that 12 Monkeys does is make it seem very dull on purpose. The short film uses a narrator with a very monotone voice to show this off. Also, the movie uses still images and adds voiceovers or other sounds to them after. This once again achieves the same goal, being to make the film detached. Le Jetee uses certain transitions to acquire a "dream-like ambiance" which helps to contrast the clean shots when characters are conversing. The film also uses audio to great effect and adds it a lot of important and disturbing imagery to amplify the visuals. An example used for this is the audio of a heart beating for a dramatic and intense scene. This helps the audience feel the intensity of the pictures being shown as if their own heart was racing. Another example of this is a slick and romantic score for a positive effect on the audience, once again enhancing the images. So the short film on nine was straight to the point . There wasn’t any dialogue, but you could tell that there    was a beginning, middle and end. It took me a minute to figure out the character development. then I realized after watching the trailer and a short film that they were only trying to survive.    Unfortunately one ended up not surviving.    There was some effects that made it look like an old film and had that cinema look. The impression I got from the plot is that two creations from human for trying to survive. What happened was that being in the war    caused no human to be left. The film, however, had more dialogue to it. It kind of had a flashback to where the human was making this creation. there were a lot of close-ups in the film more than a short filmed, and emphasize that personal feeling to feel like you were there.   The genres that fall under this certain pitch is thriller, drama, and mystery. These three really fit the pitch because all of it has to do with suspense. It really is a pitch that would keep you on your toes, which falls under these three genres. For example, we have thriller. It is one of those genres that consists of many versions of excitement. it also brings feelings of surprise, anticipation, or anxiety. Basically, wanting to know what happens next really what makes the audience want to watch more. Some may say that thriller is a genre of fiction, which means that the things that are happening will not really happen in real life, realistically, so it makes it more intriguing to watch it. Therefore, this is not reality, this is fantasy. When it comes to mystery, this is what really draws the audience to trying to figure out how to solve this problem.   The Mystery genre has a had a decent popularity in films nowadays and the wide variety of aspects and work that goes into these films really brings it all together creating something thar truly represents “Mystery”. Common camera angles that are featured in most films include Over the Shoulder and Medium camera shots usually bringing the attention the characters seen on screen. Bird’s eye view and Close ups are also extremely common either to show the scenery or emphasizing something on the screen. Sounds that are most commonly used in these films include Dialogue which can be heard when a particular character on or off screen is speaking to someone or something.   Thriller is a common type of genre seen in today's hit movies that people tend to love. Quick paced action flourishes excitement which is often enough to get people to fall in love with modern movies. Thriller movies often consist of many angle shots such as: close ups and extreme ups, high angle shots, low angle shots, canted angles, wide shots and panning shots. There are tons of digenetic sounds like Sobbing; Screaming; Foot steps; Banging; Gun shot; Whispering which are all common in today's thriller movies.  The drama genre has many different aspects to it, including camera angles, different types of sounds, and editing. Some common camera angles for the drama genre include extreme close-ups to show a person's dramatic facial expressions and reactions. Another common angle is a POV shot to display how the character is feeling while the story is happening. A common sound used in the drama genre is a score. Another common sound would be a dialogue as it can discuss key moments. A specific dialogue that is used often in drama films is monologue usually when the antagonist talks for a while without pause. All of the clamps are used in drama often such as costumes and lighting which can tell a story without words solely based on design. Also, acting is a key part of drama films/shows as, without proper acting, drama is hard to portray.  Some of the Genres that our group has chosen are Drama, Mystery and Thriller. The reason these genres specifically peaked our interest is because they all share common themes that are widely popular for most audiences that enjoy films that include dramatized stories. It’s also very easy to create stories under these genres because theres a wider range of how these stories can go which leaves a lot more room for creativity and not sticking under a cliche that most movies have already partaking in.
