Genre Research: Hereditary

 This movie has elements that our group would like to

include in our final task such as the tense ambience

created by the mysterious entity that disturbs the family.

Having a mood that puts the viewer at the edge of their

seat while also trying to solve and figure out what's going

on is something Hereditary does well and something our

group would like to recreate into our film. Another

element that inspired our film was the use of subverting

the viewers expectations. This movie may make the

viewer believe one thing is going on when in reality

something entirely different may be happening. The

unpredictable nature of Hereditary is a great base for a

mystery film as mystery constantly wants the viewer confused and questioning 


Some elements that we enjoyed were the non-stop tension

as the family would often be arguing and constantly

fighting over something they do not understand.

Hereditary manages to show the reality of family

struggles but also mysterious element about supernatural

entity's. This combination provides the mood of tension

yet mystery perfectly to the viewer as they may relate to

the film making the tension feel closer to home while also

being scared of the unknown monster that troubles the

protagonists.

There wasn't much wrong with this movie as it was

mostly a unique concept that displayed everything a

mystery movie needs. The movie managed to scare the

viewers and also introduce new topics and ideas that the

viewer might not be certain of this. Because of the theme

of mental illness and extreme gruesome scenes it would

make sense why people wouldn't like the movie but it was

well done with an ending that confused several people

Final Day of Filming for my Music Video

On the second day of filming, I finished filming all of the storyboard panels for my music video. I have to say that it was not an easy task. I had a lot of time to myself, so I decided to use that time to actually finish everything, but it wasn't easy because it felt like a time crunch even though I was free to do whatever I wanted. There were still a lot of scenes to finish from where I had left off, and I had to refilm some of them because the clips were too blurry for the final product. I also recorded scenes that I would edit into the music video to give it more personality and easter eggs, which sort of fits the theme of my music video anyway. It was also difficult to change costumes because I play both characters and edit myself into it. It's a difficult task, but it's not impossible.   - What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? The opening sequence has one title card that starts with the name of the movie, starting off from white to red   - What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? One image that gets prioritized heavily is the phone of Casey Becker. Another thing that gets prioritized is the house such as the doors, the kitchen, the stove. - What connotations do these images carry? The phone shows a mysterious voice that keeps on dialing her. The stranger continuously asks odd questions that begin to get intimidating. The movie uses the phone as a way to scare the viewer as the ringing continues.  For my Commerical Project, I will work alone. I think its the best way to go for me because I'm not really trusting of other people because I have no actual clue if they'll do the work or not and in the past I've had lots of issues with people not completing what they're supposed to be doing even with my friends. I can't really rely on others so that's why I'm holding full responsibility for this project. Working alone isn't terrible either, on the bright side I won't have to nudge people into doing their work until they get annoyed with me because I hate being a bother to others as well. Being independent also means this project will be my own unique thoughts without interference. I like working out ideas by myself although critique is necessary I want this project to be my own authentic piece and my own authentic ideas. Having other people's ideas doesn't really make this my own and I may not like what others come up with so I trust myself...
