Day One of Filming for my Sprite Commercial
Today, I did the first three panels of my storyboard for my Commercial out by the senior patio near the cafeteria. It was very hot outside and I should have considered how hard it'd be to film on my own but I found my way around it. For prop set up all I really needed to do was have my sketchbook out under my arm and the Sprite bottle itself, of course, nothing major props are very simplistic for this commercial. Before I began filming I looked through my storyboard thoroughly to see and plan out how I'd be able to pull some of the camera angles I have planned to film in. After I did that I tried coming up with ways to set up the camera, First I tried my backpack to place it on but it didn't really work ou
t so I put my phone against a pole across the vending machine where I was going to walk across to get to the machine just how my storyboard is laid out and that worked out just fine. It took me a lot of takes just for the first scene, I had some perfect ones but it was interfered with by people walking in and out of the auditorium and or walking to the vending machine to see if it's even on. Obviously, this already put me through a little bit of a sweat but I finally got the shot I wanted. The next panel was pretty simple to film, with not too many retakes which is great because I didn't want to overwhelm myself with doing the same process of refilming over and over. As well as the third panel, which was pretty simple to film as well and it only took about 2 takes to perfect. I was getting to filming the fourth and fifth panels of my storyboard and I already have some takes for them but sadly they weren't perfect enough to make the cut for the commercial. I had already run out of time since the bell rang for people in b lunch to go head and go eat. I hope that next class I can finish up the filming quickly this time, now that I have a good idea of how to place my camera angles. I have learned from the mistakes of today and it'll help me better understand how I can make this commercial the best it can be. It's difficult to film when there are many people walking by into the shot but I'm also getting a better idea of the times when people are out roaming by the senior patio. I would like to do the final senior patio shots and hopefully cram in the outside of the cafeteria shots to which I have noticed no one goes by so it's easy to put that in last. That was day one of filming though, next time hopefully will be a better filming day for me.
